Quick logo design
By far the most common request for a graphic designer is a new logo be it for a company or product launch.
These can be picked up for about £5 on People Per Hour or Fiverr, in fact you can even use free templates on Canva. What you’ll get for that is some templated design that’s been trotted out over and over again with different colours or font.
If you want something more bespoke to you then a Graphic Designer will definitely be needed and you’ll want to pay more than £5!
Design for Print
Most print companies will provide free templates for all sorts of printed assets and a design service where you can add your logo design and away you go. And here lies the sticky point for most business owners.
The moment a new thing is needed we start to see deviation from the brand, usually because no brand guidelines exist. Before anything else is created you’ll want a Design Consultant on board.
This is where the real design process starts, it’s where the understanding of your audience and solid decision making based on data happens.
What’s the difference between a Website Developer and a Website Designer? There’s no punchline, it’s not a joke. Developers are the guys who code and make stuff happen.
Designers make it look good. And a UX designer makes sure that all those things optimise the customer experience and sales. They all matter.
I’ve seen stunning websites that simply don’t function and those that are supposed to be a marketing tool and yet fail to encourage contact. The thought process and skill set behind each of these roles are polar opposites.
Developers deal in code, crisp, clean precise code that is logical left-brain based. Designers are creative, artistic and right-brain. Very few people have a brain that is equal in both. You need the two halves of the coin. And the UX Designer is that bridge. They are the ones who see the psychology of the format and how the customer will use the form and function.
Images & Photography
The purpose of design is connection. Stock photography and images that are bland don’t allow you the full power of connection. Photography then needs to be as well thought out as the rest of your brand.
